Overview

The California Conservation Corps partners with California State Parks, U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, county and city parks departments, and area non-profits to construct and maintain trails for public recreation. Corpsmembers working on trails projects may complete a variety of work such as clearing brush, rebuilding trail tread, installing rip rap on steep grades, constructing bridges or boardwalks, building dry stone masonry, and other trail construction techniques and methods.

Why We Work

Trails connect people to nature! Whether venturing to the beach or the top of a peak, California’s extensive trail system enables visitors to access the outdoors, supporting both mental and physical health. However – due to a combination of weather, vegetation growth, and overuse – the quality of trails can erode over time. CCC trains Corpsmembers to build and maintain these pathways so all can recreate safely.

Gear UP

Each day, Corpsmembers gear up to make the world a better place. Check out what tools they use to make an impact and picture what life is like on the trail!
