Pulling to Preserve Humboldt’s Pristine Dunes

Watch! CCC Fortuna Corpsmembers cross the Ma-l’el Sand Dunes in Humboldt County to get to their work site where they’re removing invasive species.

What a day at Ma-le’l Dunes!

CCC Fortuna Corpsmembers gave this coastal forest a major boost by removing invasive English ivy.

These pesky vines can stretch more than 90 feet, but CCC crews came prepared for the long game! Equipped with Pulaskis, McLeods, and hori hori soil knives, they easily uprooted, pulled, and cut back the ivy.

Every bit cleared is a major win for this unique habitat.
