Team Work
Siskiyou Center Corpsmembers work to brush an overgrown trail in Klamath National Forest using hand tools.
Clearing trails is not exactly a speed sport. With more than 100 miles of day hike trails available in the Klamath National Forest, it means days upon days of work over many years to keep the trails clear and usable.
One way to make that work slightly easier, and get it done slightly faster, is to camp out in remote spots as close to the work sites as possible. We call them spikes.
Our CCC Siskiyou Corpsmembers call them an opportunity to hone their skills, bond with their fellow Corpsmembers, and one of the unique experiences of the CCC.
Creating Access
By clearing overgrown vegetation off these Forest Service trails, Corpsmembers are improving access to the great outdoors for tourists and locals alike.
