Reducing Fire Fuel

Corpsmembers from the Mendocino Center work to help protect Mendocino County from wildfire, as part of a partnership with CAL FIRE Mendocino Unit.

Long before a fire ever becomes wild and devastating, CCC fire crews are working to reduce the size, frequency, and ferocity of such blazes.

You can call it “good fire” and the prescribed burns Corpsmembers prepare for and participate in are helping protect our communities.

For the Willits 1 fire crew, out of the CCC Mendocino Center, every day on a controlled burn, fuel reduction project, or wildfire is an opportunity to grow their skills and find a path to success in firefighting.
